GOOD WINE BEGINS IN THE VINEYARD
Schubert Estate vineyards are uniquely positioned in a small pocket of the Barossa Valley, which is perfect for the growing of premium grapes. The Schubert vineyards are carefully maintained using organic and natural products to maintain the quality and enhance the soil. All plantings are single wire trellis, wooden posts, North/South orientation well suited to take advantage of sunlight hours and complement the ‘Terroir’.
HAND-PICKING & BASKET PRESSING
Attention to details with minimum intervention, cleanliness, gentle crushing, open fermentation and basket pressing and all the wine making techniques used that allow the vineyards to speak for themselves. To give the grapes the best chance to produce wine of high standard, Schubert Estate requires nothing less.
Once the critical fermentation process completed, the quality of the oak barrels used for wine storing is another important winemaking variable. As its tight grain allows gradual extraction of wood flavours, allows wine to age naturally as well as imparting a wide array of flavours such as spice notes and tannin. Schubert Estate insists on using new and up to 4-year-old French oak barriques as these have proven to best suit the Schubert style of Shiraz.
